Cherry L. Emerson, Jr.

Cherry Logan Emerson, Jr. was the son of Cherry Logan Emerson, Sr., the Dean of Engineering at Georgia Tech. Although Mr. Emerson, Jr. decided not to attend Georgia Tech, he significantly impacted the university later in life. The profits of selling off his company, Emerson & Cuming Company, were used for philanthropic purposes. He donated over $1.2 million to Georgia Tech over his lifetime. Mr. Emerson was also very active in the Phoenix Club and the Hill Society and his favorite areas of Georgia Tech were the College of Sciences and the Ferst Center for the Arts.
