R. Kirk Landon

R. Kirk Landon was born in 1928 and was enrolled in the Hargrave Military Academy before he joined the Georgia Tech community as an undergraduate student.  He completed his bachelors degree in Industrial Management at Georgia Tech in 1950, then enrolled in the US Navy.  He returned from the Navy and began a very impressive career holding many leadership positions in various companies and organizations. His career spanned two businesses: he was the CEO of American Bankers Insurance Group, Inc. from 1980-1999, and then went on to hold the position of Chairman and Director of the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta from 1991-1998.  In his free time, he held a position on the Board of Trustees for the Florida International University, and he was the founder of The R. Kirk Landon Undergraduate School of Business for the Florida International University. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for The Lennar Corporation (1999 - present), and the president of the Kirk Foundation and The Kirk A. and Dorothy P. Landon Foundation. Throughout the course of his life he has given generous donations to funded the R. Kirk Landon Learning Center for children, and the Kirk Foundation and The Kirk A. and Dorothy P. Landon Foundation.
